Art hall Almelo
Spring and summer evoke different memories and experiences for everyone. For some, they are the months of holidays and freedom: swimming, boating, flying kites or doing nothing at the beach. For others, on the contrary, they are periods of intensive work, of sowing, haying and harvesting.
Where the light stays longer
Artists from the Fundatie Collection showcase these diverse experiences using different media in landscapes, figures and other representations in which the seasons become tangible. This exhibition brings together a diverse selection that focuses on light, colour, labour and relaxation.
In Wietse van den Noort's intimate, hushed French landscapes, the summer light takes on an almost tangible calm. In contrast are Wim Oepts' and Jeroen Krabbé's expressive, bright yellow landscapes, in which warmth and movement play the leading role. Helly Oestreicher's colourful Spring Models also refer to the awakening of nature. These works are inspired by the former custom in country houses to bring plants back outside in spring. The glass cylinders, executed in a variety of colours and combined with ceramic elements, symbolise growth, sprouting and flowering.
Together, the artworks form a rich palette of impressions. Be surprised by this selection of spring and summer works from the collection of Museum de Fundatie and the art collection of the Province of Overijssel, and experience how artists bring these seasons to life, each in their own way. To be found at Kunsthal Almelo from 21 June 2026. Plan your visit here.
