Curious about the artworks that are not always on display? Discover the rich and varied collection of Museum de Fundatie.
More than 16,000 works of art
The Fundatie Collection comprises more than 16,000 objects and is made up of several collections. The foundation of the Fundatie Collection was laid by collector Dirk Hannema (1895–1984), founder of the Stichting Hannema-de Stuers Fundatie. Museum de Fundatie grew out of this foundation. Over time, Hannema’s collection merged with other collections. Since 1993, Museum de Fundatie has also managed the collection of modern and contemporary art owned by the Province of Overijssel.
Many of the more than 16,000 artworks are not on display in the museum. They are safely stored in a depot: a storage facility where artworks are preserved under the right conditions. These artworks are brought into the museum for special exhibitions, such as Fundatie Collection: Remix. Part of the collection can always be seen in both Zwolle and Heino.
A new collection platform
