Hardenberg town hall
Museum de Fundatie is a guest at Hardenberg town hall with work by Marri Oosterholt. Marri Oosterholt (1918-2012) consciously chose recognisable reality. She continued to work figuratively throughout her life, producing mainly still lifes, as well as portraits and the occasional landscape.
The beauty of the everyday
Marri Oosterholt finds her subjects close to home: everyday objects that surround her for years. She combines weathered discarded objects such as old wood, chunks of stone with objects of great beauty such as a sculpture or a piece of textile. In this way, she shows that even simple, used things have beauty and expressiveness.
After World War II, Oosterholt continued to paint figuratively at a time when abstract art was becoming increasingly important. As a result, her work became somewhat out of focus. This exhibition brings her still lifes back into focus and shows how powerful and individual her view of reality is.
