Museum de Fundatie joins the annual Keti Koti celebration as a place for encounter and reflection. To commemorate and celebrate the abolition of slavery, we invite visitors to a listening session by the Dutch-Guinean harpist Indra Diallo.
On 1 July, we commemorate and celebrate the abolition of slavery in the Netherlands with Keti Koti. We reflect on the suffering of people who were enslaved, including in Suriname and the Caribbean. We also celebrate freedom. Keti Koti literally means "broken shackles".
To commemorate Keti Koti, we invite visitors to a listening session by Dutch-Guinean harpist Indra Diallo.
- The concert lasts 30 minutes.
- The concert is free of charge, if you have a valid admission ticket to the museum.
- The concert will take place in the Museum Bar, on the third floor.
Indra Diallo
Dutch-Guinean harpist Indra Diallo combines West African traditions with neoclassical blues to create a unique sound that sets her apart in the harp world. Not feeling at home in the classical music world, she developed her own intuitive compositional style, rooted in Fula and healing traditions.
With her project Find Your Tribe, she focuses on strengthening the connection with yourself and your ancestors, so that you can feel what you stand for and what sources of power are within you. Her upcoming debut album tells a story of resilience, reconnection and recovery. Her mission is to soften hearts to create sharp minds.
Please also visit the exhibition Back to Benin: New Art, Ancient Heritage. The return of the bronze plaque from our collection forms the basis of this exhibition. Ten contemporary Nigerian artists of Edo origin engage in dialogue with history, symbolism and cultural memory.
